Childcare Solicitor

About the role

We are looking for a Childcare Solicitor to join a well‑established law firm in Greater Manchester. The successful candidate will work within a dedicated childcare team, handling cases that protect vulnerable children and support families.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of care proceedings, including Public Law Outline (PLO) pre‑proceedings work.
• Represent clients in childcare matters and undertake advocacy where appropriate.
• Draft legal documents, prepare cases and liaise with courts and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with specialist care lawyers, secretarial and paralegal staff to deliver high‑quality legal services.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with at least 2 years post‑qualification experience (PQE).
• Strong communication, analytical and drafting abilities.
• Ability to manage a full caseload independently.
• Willingness to undertake advocacy and work towards Children Panel membership.

Required skills

• Legal research and case preparation.
• Drafting of legal documents.
• Advocacy in family and childcare courts.
