Children's Social Worker – Complex Safeguarding

About the role

Our client, Manchester City Council, is seeking a dedicated Children’s Social Worker to join its Complex Safeguarding team. The role focuses on protecting adolescents from exploitative abuse and serious violence, working closely with multi‑agency partners to deliver trauma‑informed support.

Key responsibilities

• Support local social work teams in identifying, disrupting, and responding to exploitative abuse.
• Consult with partner agencies, log consultations and recommendations in the Liquid Logic system, and maintain a comprehensive safeguarding footprint.
• Fast‑track safeguarding concerns through existing pathways to secure timely support for children and families.
• Attend strategy and planning meetings, produce concise reports for schools and Children’s Services, and provide expert analysis.
• Collaborate with police operations, including outreach work in Manchester City Centre, to tackle exploitation.
• Engage directly with children at risk, employing creative, relationship‑based approaches and trauma‑informed practice.
• Build and sustain strong partnerships across the voluntary sector, NHS, early help services, and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Passion for working with adolescents and a solid understanding of social work, exploitation, and trauma‑informed practice.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to innovate in direct‑work approaches.
• Willingness to work flexibly, demonstrate tenacity, and adopt a ‘whatever it takes’ mindset.
• Commitment to diversity, with encouragement for applications from the global majority and males.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Liquid Logic case‑management system.
