Commercial Claims Manager

About the role

Join a leading insurance services provider as a Commercial Claims Manager, working on a hybrid basis from Birmingham. You will lead a dynamic claims team across the Midlands and Wales, ensuring high‑quality service delivery and fostering a collaborative culture.

Key responsibilities

• Implement operational strategies, policies and procedures to optimise the claims service.
• Identify and resolve process bottlenecks in partnership with the Claims Operations and Business Performance Manager.
• Oversee day‑to‑day claims team activities, coordinating with HR, L&D and broking teams.
• Conduct regular 1‑2‑1s, performance reviews, Balanced Scorecard assessments and skills gap analyses.
• Produce performance reports using data dashboards and monitor compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
• Manage client complaints, working with Compliance where required.
• Lead performance improvement plans, apprenticeship management and recruitment for the claims team.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience in a team‑leader or managerial role within the specialist commercial claims insurance market.
• Background in insurance broking with commercial lines exposure.
• Qualified to at least Cert CII.
• Proven ability to meet targets while maintaining high service standards.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance claims processes.
• Experience with performance reporting and data‑driven decision making.
• Ability to build internal and external stakeholder relationships.
