Corporate Tax Manager

About the role

We are a leading UK accountancy and business advisory firm seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to join our growing Birmingham tax team. The role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of entrepreneurial businesses, large corporate groups, international clients and high‑growth organisations across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of corporate tax clients, delivering high‑quality compliance and advisory services on time and within budget.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and providing proactive tax advice.
• Review corporation tax computations, returns and supporting analyses prepared by junior team members.
• Lead advisory projects such as restructuring, group reorganisations, international tax matters, transaction support and tax planning.
• Monitor workflow, budgets, recoverability and work‑in‑progress across the client portfolio.
• Identify tax risks, technical issues and planning opportunities, escalating where appropriate.
• Support partners and directors with proposals, business development and cross‑selling opportunities.
• Liaise with VAT, employment tax, international tax, transfer pricing and other specialists to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor and develop junior staff, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
• Contribute to team initiatives and continuous improvement of the tax practice.

Required profile

• CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
• Strong UK corporate tax technical knowledge gained within practice.
• Experience managing a client portfolio and overseeing compliance processes.
• Demonstrable advisory experience, ideally including corporate restructuring, group tax matters or transaction work.
• Excellent project management and organisational abilities.
• Experience reviewing junior staff work and supporting their development.
• Commercially minded with a focus on adding value for clients.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
