Creature FX Technical Director – London

About the role

Framestore is seeking a Creature FX Technical Director to join its London studio. You will create and manage dynamic simulations for character‑based work, collaborating with modelling, rigging, animation, lighting and grooming teams to bring creatures to life on screen.

Key responsibilities

• Create simulation rigs for characters and creatures.
• Execute shots using simulation rigs and deliver finished assets to the Lighting department.
• Liaise with Modelling, Rigging, Animation, Lighting and Groom departments throughout the workflow.
• Contribute to the development of departmental tools and techniques.
• Meet schedules and deadlines while maintaining the highest visual standards.
• Present work for review and incorporate feedback from leads, supervisors and clients.
• Stay up‑to‑date with new tools, software and related technology.

Required profile

• Strong eye for reference material and ability to translate it into realistic simulations.
• Good understanding of human and animal anatomy.
• Effective communication with production leads and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Programming or scripting experience.
• Modelling and rigging skills.
• Proficiency with Houdini and Maya constraints and deformers.
• Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment.
