Cyber Security Research Placement – 12.5‑month Internship

About the role

Join Airbus’s Cyber Innovation team to protect a global aerospace leader from sophisticated cyber threats. You will work on cutting‑edge research, prototype development and contribute to publications in leading security conferences. The placement offers hands‑on experience in a world‑class R&D environment.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to ongoing and new cyber security research projects and prototype development.
• Collaborate with internal teams, universities worldwide and scout emerging security technologies.
• Write internal technical reports and co‑author papers for international conferences.
• Potentially travel to other Airbus sites, events and academic conferences across Europe.

Required profile

• Undergraduate studying Cyber Security, Computer Science, Psychology, Human Factors or related discipline, with relevant modules (e.g., AI, cryptography, cyber psychology).
• Strong communication skills, ability to work autonomously, curiosity and willingness to travel.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Python, C++, Java, R, Rust.
• Security tools: Nessus, Splunk, Metasploit, Burp Suite, Wireshark, Nmap.
• Operating systems: Red Hat, Ubuntu, Kali Linux, Android.
• Network protocols: TCP/IP, MODBUS, Profinet, CANBUS, Bluetooth.
• Research skills: research design, technical report writing, statistical analysis.

• Salary of £24,246 per year (35 hours/week).
