Data Manager – Enterprise Data Strategy Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Data Manager to lead the creation and execution of an enterprise‑wide data strategy for a large, regulated organisation undergoing a major technology transformation. Reporting to the Head of IT, you will ensure data is accurate, secure, and ready to support operational, regulatory and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver an enterprise data strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Establish data governance, ownership, standards, quality controls and prioritisation processes.
• Design target data architecture, including warehousing, modelling, integrations and pipelines.
• Oversee data integrity, security, availability and compliance with GDPR and other regulations.
• Manage delivery through internal teams and external suppliers, handling procurement and supplier relationships.
• Recruit and lead a small team of data engineers and BI analysts.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide timely, accurate reporting and actionable insights.
• Drive continuous improvement via data quality metrics, audits and process optimisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in enterprise data management, governance and architecture.
• Strong background in regulated, asset‑intensive or safety‑critical sectors.
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex data concepts for senior and non‑technical audiences.
