Data Protection Assistant

About the role

Our client, a leading tech provider in Birmingham, is seeking a Data Protection Assistant to join the Information Security team. The role is based in the city centre office two days a week, offering a supportive environment for professional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Support governance processes to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Help safeguard sensitive information and promote strong data protection practices.
• Work with suppliers to manage standards, risks and compliance requirements.
• Contribute to initiatives that protect the organisation from cyber threats and improve security posture.
• Transform data and insights into clear reports for decision‑making.
• Assist with audits, compliance checks and assurance activities.
• Undertake additional tasks and projects across governance, risk, compliance and security.

Required profile

• Previous experience performing compliance‑related tasks.
• Experience in a process‑heavy role with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and comfort using digital tools for document and information management.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and competing priorities while maintaining high standards.
• Experience maintaining accurate records, reports or compliance documentation.
• Independent, initiative‑driven and capable of handling confidential information with discretion.
