Data Protection Solicitor

About the role

The Legists are seeking a Data Protection Solicitor to join their award‑winning national practice. This position involves advising clients on complex data protection matters, including subject access requests, freedom of information requests, data breaches and contentious information‑governance issues.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act and related regulations.
• Manage and respond to DSARs and FOIA requests for a diverse client base.
• Handle personal data breach investigations and advise on remediation.
• Represent clients in tribunal proceedings and other contentious data‑protection disputes.
• Collaborate with a specialist team to deliver high‑profile, commercial‑focused solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with at least 2 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in data protection.
• Demonstrated experience handling DSARs, FOIA requests and data breach incidents.
• Commercially minded with a pragmatic approach to problem‑solving.
• Experience in cyber‑attack response and contentious matters is a distinct advantage.
