Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)

About the role

We are recruiting for a forward‑thinking building services consultancy that delivers innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across commercial, residential, healthcare and education sectors. As an Electrical Design Engineer you will create and specify electrical building services systems, ensuring they are high‑quality, compliant and energy‑efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Design lighting, power distribution, fire alarm and data systems for a variety of projects.
• Produce detailed design drawings and specifications using industry‑standard software.
• Attend site visits to verify design intent and resolve on‑site issues.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical solutions with overall building design.
• Ensure all work complies with UK Building Regulations, BS7671 and CIBSE guidelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical design within the building services sector.
• Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and CIBSE standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership with CIBSE or IET is desirable.
