EL/PL Litigation Executive – Claims Handler

About the role

The Claims Handler will manage a caseload of EL/PL delegated authority fixed fee cases for multiple insurance clients, working closely with a Technical Support Lawyer to set strategies and make liability decisions. The role requires a forensic, analytical approach and familiarity with the documentation and evidence typical of these cases.

Key responsibilities

• Consider and respond to applications for pre‑action disclosure and manage matters in line with client SLA’s.
• Instruct counsel/advocates, review evidence, conduct legal research and draft court payments.
• Handle routine correspondence, negotiate settlements and draft Tomlin and consent orders.
• Review quantum, prepare cost schedules and ensure compliance with SRA standards.
• Conduct investigations, obtain witness statements and liaise with insureds, claimant solicitors and experts.
• Attend conferences and trials, take notes and support file handlers on delegated authority cases.

Required profile

• Essential experience handling a caseload of EL/PL files.
• Strong telephone and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to organise, prioritise and work calmly under pressure.
• Attention to detail on repetitive tasks and high analytical capability.
• Commitment to meeting performance targets and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Required skills

• Forensic and analytical approach to legal case management.
• Good literacy and IT proficiency for handling documentation.
• Understanding of SRA standards and regulations.
