Environmental Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Environmental Manager to join the Kier Design team on the A417 Missing Link project in Gloucester. You will provide environmental expertise and leadership for a high‑profile, landscape‑led highways project, helping to minimise impacts and promote sustainable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all environmental management and compliance matters, ensuring adherence to DCO and EMP commitments.
• Work collaboratively with designers and construction teams to minimise environmental impacts.
• Oversee implementation of the project's One Planet Action Plan and promote sustainable solutions.
• Obtain necessary environmental permits, licences and consents in a timely manner.
• Provide guidance, support and training on environmental issues to the wider project team.

Required profile

• Degree in environmental science or sustainability (or equivalent) and Chartered or Practitioner member of ISEP, working towards chartership.
• Demonstrable experience leading environmental management on large construction projects.
• Excellent knowledge of UK environmental legislation and a good understanding of various environmental issues.
• Confident communicator able to translate technical information clearly to different audiences.
• Enjoys collaborative stakeholder work while being comfortable taking initiative.
