Estate Assistant – Grounds Maintenance

About the role

The Estate Assistant will deliver high-quality cleaning and grounds maintenance for a large housing provider across multiple sites in the SW9 area of London. This full-time position focuses on maintaining gardens, communal areas and ensuring a safe, tidy environment for residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, lawns, shrubbery and communal grounds to agreed standards.
• Perform routine cleaning of estate areas, including removal of litter, graffiti and fly‑tipping.
• Report repairs, safeguarding concerns and any health & safety issues promptly.
• Operate and clean maintenance equipment safely and keep company vehicles compliant.
• Record all work performed, materials used and associated costs accurately.

Required profile

• Proven experience in grounds maintenance across a variety of sites and garden types.
• Strong knowledge of lawn, shrub and plant care.
• Excellent customer-service orientation with a track record of high satisfaction.
• Physical ability to carry out manual tasks safely and follow H&S guidelines.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Pesticides handling and knowledge of relevant regulations.
• Understanding of COSHH and PPE requirements.
• Operation of grounds-maintenance equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers).
• Use of mobile devices for reporting and record-keeping.
