Fabric Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fabric Engineer to join a large, well‑known facilities management organisation in the West Midlands. The role involves maintaining and improving complex fabric systems across multiple estates, ensuring compliance with standards and legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake fabric works across both estates, covering fire doors, passive fire protection, drainage, cladding, roof systems and general joinery repairs.
• Respond to reactive jobs, performing diagnostics, fault finding and repairs to complex fabric systems.
• Obtain Competent Person status for confined spaces, working at height and related safety areas.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with the PPM programme and personal competence.

Required profile

• Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level.
• Good knowledge of a range of complex fabric systems, including fire doors, passive fire protection, drainage, cladding, roof systems and joinery.
• Commercial experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
