Fabrication Workshop Manager – Manufacturing

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fabrication Workshop Manager to lead operations within a busy manufacturing environment. You will oversee fabrication activities, ensure high-quality production, and drive efficiency across the workshop.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily fabrication and production activities to meet delivery schedules.
• Coordinate welding, fabrication, and assembly operations, allocating labour and resources effectively.
• Lead, motivate and develop a team of fabricators, welders and operatives, conducting briefings and managing performance.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conduct risk assessments and promote safe working practices.
• Maintain quality standards by inspecting work, supporting quality control and driving right-first-time manufacturing.
• Identify and implement continuous-improvement initiatives, reducing downtime, waste and supporting lean manufacturing.
• Manage equipment maintenance, preventative schedules and tooling, consumables and material requirements.
• Liaise with engineering, planning and production teams, providing progress updates and supporting capacity planning.

Required profile

• Strong background in fabrication and welding within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of MIG welding and structural fabrication.
• Experience managing production schedules and KPIs.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
