Family Help Lead Practitioner - Social Worker

About the role
We are seeking a qualified Social Worker to lead the newly‑launched Family Help Service for Tameside Council. Working on a hybrid basis, you will join an integrated Duty, Assessment and Family Help team delivering high‑intensity support to children and families.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct frontline assessments, statutory enquiries and child‑in‑need triage within the community.
- Lead Section 47 child protection investigations, initiate emergency procedures and coordinate with legal and management teams.
- Provide planned family support and crisis‑response interventions to keep children safely at home.
- Manage a complex CIN caseload, chair review meetings and challenge families to achieve lasting change.
- Develop multi‑agency partnerships and maintain audit‑ready electronic case records.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker with a current Social Work England registration.
- Significant post‑qualifying experience in statutory duty, assessment, child protection or frontline safeguarding.
- Proven ability to work independently on lone‑working home visits and manage competing crisis priorities.
- Strong analytical writing skills for high‑quality statutory reports.
