Finance Manager – Birmingham

About the role

Our client is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the finance function at their Birmingham office. The role is full‑time, on‑site and offers a salary up to £45,000 per year. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency across all finance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day finance department operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Manage daily bank processing and perform reconciliations, maintaining invoice discounting schedules.
• Coordinate weekly and monthly sales invoicing to achieve timely revenue recognition.
• Process the purchase ledger and ensure supplier payments are handled effectively.
• Control credit by monitoring outstanding debts and maintaining client relationships.
• Reconcile monthly payroll to guarantee accurate and timely staff payments.
• Lead, manage and mentor junior finance team members.
• Build strong relationships with internal departments and external auditors.
• Drive cash‑flow initiatives to optimise available cash resources.
• Assist in preparing annual financial statements by gathering data and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a finance department in a similar organisation.
• Strong track record in daily bank processing and complex reconciliations.
• In‑depth knowledge of weekly and monthly sales invoicing cycles.
• Experience handling purchase ledger and supplier payment processes.
• Demonstrated ability in credit control and client communication.
• Familiarity with payroll reconciliation and timely staff payments.
• Capability to lead, manage and mentor junior finance colleagues.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for cross‑departmental collaboration.
• Experience supporting external auditors during audit periods.
