Fortinet Network Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fortinet Network Security Engineer to join a fast‑growing consultancy delivering complex infrastructure and security projects across the UK. You will work on a blend of remote and on‑site assignments, taking ownership from design through to delivery while shaping technical decisions for regulated and high‑profile clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure and support FortiGate firewalls in multi‑site environments.
• Implement firewall policies, security profiles, IPSec and SSL VPNs, SD‑WAN and High Availability solutions.
• Manage the broader Fortinet ecosystem – FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiClient EMS, FortiSwitch and FortiAP.
• Conduct firewall reviews, optimisation and hardening following best practices.
• Monitor security events, investigate incidents and support root‑cause analysis.
• Produce technical documentation, network diagrams and change records.
• Support compliance initiatives such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and GDPR.
• Lead technical delivery on customer sites and guide projects through their full lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Fortinet Network Security Engineer or similar role.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of FortiGate firewalls and FortiAnalyzer in production.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, NAT, IDS/IPS and overall network security principles.
• Experience delivering SD‑WAN and managing multi‑site networks.
• Ability to design and deliver end‑to‑end network infrastructure projects.
• Experience with physical and cloud networking environments.
