Front End Clerk – Part‑Time (Customer Service)

About the role

Join the Food Basics team as a Front End Clerk, providing friendly, efficient service to shoppers in a busy grocery environment. This part‑time, permanent position offers flexible shifts across days, evenings and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and assist with product location inquiries.
• Scan items accurately and process all forms of payment, including cash, cards and gift cards.
• Handle returns, issue receipts, and manage loyalty program or coupon assistance.
• Maintain an accurate cash drawer, perform cash drops, and balance the register at shift end.
• Keep the checkout area clean, organized and safe, reporting any spills or equipment issues.
• Collaborate with teammates and communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments.

Required profile

• Customer‑service oriented with strong communication abilities.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• High attention to detail and basic numeracy skills.
• Retail experience is an asset but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Basic computer and point‑of‑sale register operation.
