Graduate Learning Support Assistant – School Support Role

About the role

This temporary full‑time position is designed for recent graduates who want to make a tangible difference to vulnerable children in primary and specialist SEND schools across South Manchester and Stockport. You will work closely with headteachers, SENDCOs and senior leadership teams to provide consistent, empathetic support to pupils facing educational barriers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils with SEMH, autism, ADHD, trauma or care‑related needs.
• Assist classroom teachers in managing behaviour and fostering positive relationships.
• Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with school staff to monitor progress and adapt interventions.
• Maintain accurate records of support activities and outcomes.

Required profile

• Recent graduate in Psychology, Criminology, Youth Studies, Social Work, Education or related fields.
• Compassionate, empathetic and able to build trusting relationships with young people.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Resilient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children.
