Graduate Teaching Assistant – 1‑Year Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a mixed secondary school and sixth form in Hackney, East London. Working closely with teachers, you will help create a supportive classroom environment and assist students in achieving their learning goals. This 1‑year fixed‑term position starts in September 2026 and offers a chance to develop your career in education.

Key responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering high‑quality lessons and learning activities.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to reinforce learning objectives.
• Monitor and record student progress, giving feedback to teaching staff.
• Assist students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
• Supervise pupils during break times, educational visits, and extracurricular activities as required.
• Contribute to the school’s ethos, safeguarding, and student wellbeing.

Required profile

• Minimum of 7 GCSEs at grades A‑C (4‑9), including English and Mathematics.
• 2:1 degree or higher from a recognised university.
• Genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Proactive, adaptable, and professional attitude.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
