Hands-On Warehouse Operations Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a practical, organised Warehouse Operations Supervisor to lead a small team on the shop floor. This hands‑on role combines people‑management with day‑to‑day warehouse tasks, ensuring 100‑120 orders are prepared accurately and dispatched on time.

Key responsibilities

• Process WooCommerce orders, print labels and order copies each morning (7‑8 am).
• Check customer notes, exceptions and special instructions before releasing work.
• Organise the daily workload so the team can start promptly at 8 am.
• Allocate tasks, monitor progress and coordinate four to five warehouse employees.
• Receive stock, complete accurate stock‑in records and maintain manual stock logs while supporting new stock‑control software.
• Prepare delivery notes for materials sent to galvanisers and reconcile returned items.
• Investigate missing, damaged or incorrect items.
• Arrange deliveries using company vehicles and create practical delivery schedules.
• Verify that orders, paperwork and deliveries are complete and accurate.
• Monitor productivity, quality and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Make routine decisions within authority and refer complex issues to the business owner.
• Perform manual handling and practical warehouse work when needed.
• Provide a concise daily update on completed orders, outstanding work and operational issues.

Required profile

• Previous experience in warehouse, stock‑holding, distribution or operations.
• Proven experience supervising or coordinating warehouse staff.
• Valid forklift qualification with confident practical forklift use.
• Strong attention to stock, paperwork and order accuracy.
• Ability to plan work, set priorities and follow up delays respectfully.
• Comfortable using computers and learning WooCommerce and stock‑control software.
• Willingness to undertake practical duties, with reasonable adjustments where appropriate.
• Practical leadership style with a calm, problem‑solving approach.
• Good understanding of warehouse health and safety.
• Reliability to start work at 7 am on site.
