Head of Commercial (Corporate) – Interim Leadership

About the role

The Metropolitan Police Service is seeking an experienced Head of Commercial (Corporate) to provide interim leadership for a £100m per annum Corporate Services portfolio. This 12‑month contract (possible extension) will be based in Kilburn, London, with a hybrid working pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the strategic delivery and management of the Corporate Services category portfolio, including Occupational Health, Records Management & Digitisation, HR and Business Services, Workplace Services and Stationery.
• Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies aligned with organisational priorities.
• Manage a team of 6‑7 commercial professionals, driving performance, capability and professional development.
• Partner with senior stakeholders and Management Board representatives to deliver commercial solutions and value‑for‑money outcomes.
• Lead high‑value procurements, supplier negotiations and ensure robust governance across the procurement lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven senior commercial leadership experience in a public‑sector or complex organisational environment.
• Strong track record of delivering strategic procurement programmes and category strategies.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Eligibility to work in the UK (CTC) and have lived in the UK for the past five years.

• Fixed‑term 12‑month contract (possible extension to 18 months).
• Hybrid working: three days onsite, two days remote, with a mandatory office day on Thursday.
• Daily rate of £650‑£800, paid through an umbrella arrangement.
