Head of Conveyancing

About the role

We are looking for a commercially minded Head of Conveyancing to take ownership of an established and growing conveyancing division within a respected legal practice. The role is primarily home‑based with occasional travel across the UK, offering the chance to lead a sizeable team and shape the department’s future growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, inspire and develop a team of approximately 50 conveyancing professionals.
• Drive operational excellence, compliance and service delivery across the department.
• Monitor performance, workloads, productivity and case progression.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, risk management and quality standards are maintained.
• Identify training needs, manage performance issues and develop future leaders.
• Build and grow relationships with estate agents, developers, introducers and referral partners.
• Develop new B2B and B2C business opportunities and execute a growth strategy.
• Work closely with senior leadership to increase revenue, profitability and market share.
• Represent the firm externally as a brand ambassador within the property sector.

Required profile

• Extensive residential conveyancing experience.
• Proven experience managing large teams and departmental performance.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management and quality assurance.
• Commercial mindset with a track record of winning and developing business.
• Established relationships within the property sector, estate agency or developer market (advantageous).
• Entrepreneurial drive and ambition to build a significant operation.
