Head of Digital Trading

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Digital Trading to own the commercial P&L of a major online retail business. This senior, hybrid role sits on the Senior Leadership Team and will shape trading strategy, drive growth and maximise profitability across a large digital channel.

Key responsibilities

• Own the online commercial P&L, delivering sustainable sales, margin and long‑term value.
• Develop and execute a digital trading strategy that aligns with overall business objectives.
• Lead all aspects of online trading – pricing, promotions, merchandising, conversion optimisation, assortment and seasonal planning.
• Partner with Category, Marketing, Digital, Technology and Operations teams to align priorities and maximise performance.
• Use customer insight, trading data and market analysis to identify growth opportunities.
• Continuously optimise the online customer journey to increase conversion, basket size and lifetime value.
• Influence strategic investment decisions with commercial insight and performance analysis.
• Build alignment across a complex matrix organisation, uniting stakeholders around shared commercial goals.

Required profile

• Proven track record of growing online sales and profitability in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Experience leading digital/e‑commerce trading functions at a senior level.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to make data‑driven decisions.
• Comfort working in a matrix organisation and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
