Head of IT / IT Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a long‑established, rapidly growing manufacturer, importer and wholesale retailer on the outskirts of Manchester. Technology now underpins their UK and global operations, and they need a strategic yet hands‑on Head of IT / IT Manager to drive the next phase of growth. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role offers full accountability for the IT landscape and a seat at the strategic table.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute an IT systems strategy, architecture and technology roadmap aligned with evolving business needs.
• Negotiate and manage third‑party suppliers and partners for infrastructure and business applications.
• Oversee the ERP landscape (ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O) and optimise integrations with internal systems, WMS and client platforms.
• Lead, mentor and develop a small internal IT team and coordinate external partner networks.
• Ensure reliable operation of servers, desktops, networks, telephony, mobile devices, websites and warehouse technology.
• Own all IT procurement, software licensing and budget management.
• Establish governance, technical documentation and end‑user training frameworks.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an IT Manager, Head of IT or IT Director, preferably in an SME environment within wholesale, distribution, logistics or supply‑chain.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience highly desirable.
• Hands‑on technical confidence to intervene directly with infrastructure, hardware and applications when required.
• Exposure to e‑commerce platforms and integration with supply‑chain technologies.
