Health and Safety Officer – 12 month FTC

About the role

Hamilton Woods is recruiting a Health and Safety Officer on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to support a social housing provider in Manchester. The role blends office‑based work with site visits, offering a hybrid working pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the H&S Manager in embedding a strong health and safety culture across the organisation.
• Implement actions identified by the H&S team and help develop related policies and procedures.
• Support managers to ensure effective health and safety systems are operating.
• Contribute to risk assessments, safe systems of work and COSHH documentation under guidance.
• Identify training needs with HR and assist in delivering H&S training.
• Prepare and report on health and safety performance metrics.
• Oversee the accident and incident management system, ensuring timely investigations.
• Provide advice and guidance for investigations of accidents, incidents and near‑misses.

Required profile

• NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety.
• Experience working within a health and safety team.
• Proven ability to respond to H&S queries and participate in risk assessments, audits and investigations.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
