Healthcare Support Worker – District Nursing

About the role

The Healthcare Support Worker will join the Galashiels District Nursing Community Nursing Team, delivering essential care to patients in their own homes. Based at Gala Health Centre, you will travel across the locality to meet service needs, working alongside nurses and other health professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care and support to patients in their homes.
• Assist district nurses with clinical tasks, medication administration, and health monitoring.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate observations to the wider care team.
• Travel to a variety of community settings, adapting to different environments as required.
• Promote patient independence and wellbeing while adhering to NHS standards.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, caring attitude with excellent communication skills.
• Adaptable to working in diverse home‑care environments.
• Experience in community health care is desirable but not essential.
• Valid driving licence is essential for travel between patient homes.
