Hostel Caretaker – Full‑time

About the role
The council is seeking a reliable Hostel Caretaker to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across its supported hostel sites in London. You will work closely with the Supported Pathways Manager and team leaders to ensure both internal and external areas meet health and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine and deep cleaning, waste management, and general upkeep of hostel premises.
- Report faults, carry out minor repairs, and coordinate maintenance tasks.
- Prepare vacant rooms for re‑letting, including bed setup, furniture placement, and inventory handling.
- Maintain COSHH logbooks, manage safe storage of chemicals, and conduct annual PAT testing of appliances.
- Control store inventories, receive and dispatch supplies, and keep tools and equipment in good working order.
Required profile
- Available to start as soon as possible.
- Ideally holds an Enhanced DBS check.
Required skills
- PAT testing of electrical appliances.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe chemical handling.
- Inventory and stock management.
- Basic maintenance and repair abilities.
