Housing Advice Worker

About the role

The Housing Advice Worker will join Look Ahead’s Domestic Abuse Social Care Service in Kent, helping people transition from refuge to permanent accommodation. This full‑time, one‑year fixed‑term position offers the chance to make a real difference for vulnerable adults.

Key responsibilities

• Build supportive, trusting relationships with customers in refuge and guide them toward permanent housing.
• Support community customers accessing the Sanctuary Scheme and manage associated risks.
• Develop personalised move‑on support plans and conduct risk assessments with a positive‑risk‑taking approach.
• Complete move‑on paperwork, ensure access to welfare support, and coordinate utilities set‑up.
• Liaise with local charities, accompany customers to property viewings, and foster partnerships.
• Adhere to Look Ahead policies, engage in learning and reflective practice, and undertake any other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Enjoys social interaction and encourages customer involvement in local activities.
• Warm, friendly presence with an open demeanor.
• Team‑oriented, calm and resilient under pressure.
• Legally eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Required skills

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience in the social‑care or charity sector.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).
