Housing Litigation Paralegal

About the role

The Housing Litigation Paralegal will join Duncan Lewis Solicitors’ award‑winning Housing Department in Birmingham. Working under the Department Director, you will support both public‑funded (legal aid) and private clients in a fast‑paced environment, helping to resolve tenancy disputes, disrepair claims, possession proceedings and related matters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist solicitors with preparation and management of housing litigation files from inception to resolution.
• Draft and review correspondence, pleadings, witness statements and court forms.
• Liaise with clients, landlords, tenants, local authorities and court staff to gather evidence and schedule hearings.
• Maintain accurate case records in the firm’s document management system and ensure compliance with legal‑aid regulations.
• Conduct legal research and monitor case law relevant to housing disputes.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and client‑care skills with a sympathetic approach to vulnerable clients.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and able to manage competing deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
