Housing Support Worker – North Manchester

About the role

This full‑time position supports the Homelessness Service in North Manchester, delivering outreach assistance to individuals and families facing homelessness or at risk of it. You will work directly in customers' accommodation and community venues, helping them achieve stability and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Act as lead professional/key worker, collaborating with customers and partner agencies.
• Assess needs, prioritise issues and create outcome‑focused action plans.
• Support customers in setting realistic goals, promoting resilience.
• Deliver personalised interventions aimed at skills development and behavioural change.
• Monitor rent accounts, affordability and budgeting, flagging payment risks.
• Assist throughout the rehousing process to minimise temporary accommodation stays.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance reporting.
• Share best practice within the team and support service objectives.

Required profile

• Experience working with vulnerable people, homelessness, or complex needs.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and engage with partner agencies.
• Flexible, assertive and person‑centred approach.
• Full driving licence (essential).

• Fixed‑term contract until September 2026 (possible extension).
• £15.43 per hour.
