Indirect Tax Manager – UK & Europe

About the role

Join a leading global engineering and professional services organisation as an Indirect Tax Manager responsible for UK VAT compliance and European VAT obligations. You will work within a high‑performing Group Tax function, interacting with senior stakeholders and supporting cross‑border projects across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end UK VAT compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
• Oversee VAT obligations in European jurisdictions such as Ireland, France, Germany and Switzerland.
• Provide technical advice on complex transactions, joint operations and cross‑border projects.
• Maintain strong relationships with HMRC and other tax authorities.
• Support governance, SAO requirements and drive continuous improvement of VAT processes.
• Liaise with external advisers and contribute to broader indirect tax matters across the region.

Required profile

• Qualified tax professional (ACA, CTA or equivalent) with deep VAT expertise.
• Extensive experience managing UK VAT compliance and advising on complex transactions.
• Demonstrated exposure to European indirect tax regimes.
• Proven ability to engage with tax authorities and manage external advisers.
• Commercial mindset with the capacity to translate technical tax into practical business advice.
• Track record of improving processes and maintaining robust governance frameworks.
