Individual Support Assistant – 1:1 Child Support (Gloucester)

About the role

We are looking for a caring Individual Support Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a pupil with additional needs in a mainstream primary school in Gloucester. The role focuses on helping the child thrive academically, socially and emotionally within an inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tailored 1:1 support aligned with the pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Assist with communication strategies, including BSL, Makaton or other AAC methods (not essential).
• Implement individual learning strategies and adapt activities in collaboration with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
• Encourage independence while providing reassurance and guidance throughout the school day.
• Monitor progress, record observations and share insights with the wider school team and parents.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment, adhering to safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Caring and committed attitude towards supporting children with additional needs.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (or apply for one).
• Availability to work full‑time hours (8:30 am – 3:30 pm) on site.
