Infrastructure Engineer – Manchester

About the role

We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing managed services team in Manchester. You will work across both Azure and on‑premise environments, supporting monitoring, incident management, backup validation, patching and overall infrastructure administration.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage infrastructure alerts across cloud and on‑premise platforms.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents.
• Manage ticket lifecycles through ITSM processes and meet SLA targets.
• Perform daily backup validation and support remediation activities.
• Support monthly patching for Windows, Linux, Azure and VMware estates.
• Assist with Azure and VMware virtual‑machine administration and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to operational documentation, runbooks and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in a shared on‑call rota providing first‑response support for critical incidents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in infrastructure support, preferably within a managed‑services environment.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and ITSM platforms.
• Strong Windows Server administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Exposure to VMware vSphere and Microsoft Azure environments.
• Understanding of backup technologies and operational support processes.
• Good communication, problem‑solving and customer‑service abilities.
• Knowledge of ITIL‑based service management practices.
