Infrastructure Operative – Maintenance Support

About the role

Join a prestigious university in Uxbridge as an Infrastructure Operative, providing high‑quality maintenance support outside core hours. You will work as part of a dedicated team to keep the campus facilities running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on building services and systems.
• Assist contractors and other trades with installations, repairs, and routine tasks.
• Report low stock levels of materials to maintain service continuity.
• Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, painting, decorating, tiling and plastering duties as required.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on domestic and industrial building services, plant and controls.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with health and safety legislation.

Required profile

• Ability to work flexibly, including at height and with manual handling.
• Willingness to follow supervision from Infrastructure Delivery Managers and Technicians.
• Strong initiative and teamwork orientation.
• Commitment to health and safety standards.

Required skills

• Use of powered hand tools and workshop machinery.
• Basic electrical work (e.g., lamp changes).
• Basic plumbing tasks (e.g., clearing blockages).
• Carpentry and roofing basics.
• Painting, decorating, tiling and plastering.
• Fault diagnosis of building services and plant controls.
• Proficiency with IT maintenance systems.
