Interim Financial Accountant

About the role

Our client seeks a qualified Interim Financial Accountant to support the UK & Ireland Finance team. The role is primarily remote with occasional visits to the Birmingham office and involves statutory reporting, technical accounting, audit management and financial controls across multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual statutory financial statements in line with IFRS, UK GAAP and other statutory requirements.
• Act as the technical accounting expert, providing guidance on complex accounting matters.
• Lead acquisition accounting workstreams and related disclosures.
• Manage lease accounting under IFRS 16, including system oversight and reporting.
• Oversee year‑end group reporting and drive the external audit process to completion.
• Build strong relationships with external auditors to resolve queries promptly.
• Support group simplification, legal entity rationalisation and finance transformation projects.
• Identify and implement improvements to reporting, consolidation and ERP systems.
• Collaborate with local tax teams on tax provisions, corporation tax computations and VAT returns.

Required profile

• Qualified Financial Accountant with experience in statutory reporting and technical accounting.
• Proven ability to manage audits and financial controls across multiple entities.
• Experience working on acquisitions, lease accounting (IFRS 16) and finance transformation initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, able to work with senior finance leaders.
