Interim Financial Controller – Hybrid, London

About the role

This interim position offers a hands‑on leadership opportunity within a leading professional services consultancy. You will be responsible for financial control, reporting and process improvement while working in a hybrid London environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close and produce monthly management accounts.
• Manage balance‑sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, revenue recognition, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Oversee invoicing, work‑in‑progress reviews and project finance controls.
• Monitor cash flow, supplier payments and credit control.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, payroll, pension and statutory reporting.
• Assist audit processes and maintain strong internal controls.
• Drive finance system enhancements and continuous process improvements.
• Manage and develop a small finance team while partnering with operational stakeholders.

Required profile

• Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
• Strong financial reporting and month‑end management experience.
• Experience in professional services, consultancy or project‑based organisations.
• Proven track record of improving processes and financial controls.
• Experience managing or mentoring finance team members.
