Interim Schools Finance Officer

About the role

The London borough is seeking an Interim Schools Finance Officer to provide immediate support to its school finance team. This temporary position will focus on analysing school funding, reviewing balance sheets, and consolidating financial data across multiple schools.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse how funding works within the school system and ensure compliance.
• Review and consolidate individual school balance sheets into a unified report.
• Prepare and present financial statements and dashboards for senior management.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial monitoring activities.
• Collaborate with school finance staff and local authority partners.

Required profile

• Strong analytical background with experience in school or local‑authority finance.
• Understanding of school funding mechanisms and financial regulations.
• Ability to interpret and consolidate balance‑sheet data.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with finance teams and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Spreadsheet proficiency (e.g., Excel).
• Knowledge of SIMS or RM Finance systems.
