Interim Tax Accountant – 6‑Month Contract – Up to £450/day

About the role

We are supporting a large, complex organisation in central Birmingham with an interim Tax Accountant on a six‑month contract. The role sits within a well‑structured finance function and will own UK corporate tax compliance, reporting and related financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit UK corporation tax returns and manage quarterly tax payments on account.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and monthly CIS returns.
• Calculate and post current and deferred tax, supporting tax disclosures within statutory accounts.
• Maintain and enhance tax controls, processes and governance frameworks.
• Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors and support IFRS tax reporting requirements.
• Assist with monthly management accounts close, balance‑sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Support budgeting, forecasting cycles and statutory reporting audits.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong, hands‑on experience of UK corporation tax (essential).
• Experience preparing VAT returns and familiarity with CIS.
• Good understanding of IFRS reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder‑management skills.
