Junior Back End Engineer

About the role

We are looking for bright and enthusiastic graduates to join our R&D team in Uxbridge, working on the next generation of cloud‑based video security solutions. As a Junior Back End Engineer you will be involved in research, design, testing and delivery of features across the entire product portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs for the Alta Video platform.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, implement and test new features.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing and continuous integration pipelines.
• Contribute to performance optimisation and security hardening of cloud services.

Required profile

• Excellent academic results from a recognised university.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to solve complex problems.
• Proficient in English and comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Experience with at least one general‑purpose programming language (e.g., Go, Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
• Designing, developing and consuming REST APIs.
• Understanding of network security concepts such as SSL/TLS.
• Familiarity with test‑driven development, CI/CD and Kanban methodologies.
• Version control using Git.
• Knowledge of machine learning or computer vision is a plus.
