Junior Business Development Manager

About the role

We are supporting a leading global insurer in the UK and are looking for a Junior Business Development Manager to join the Birmingham team. The role is market‑facing, focused on building and growing relationships with brokers and network members while contributing to new business and retention targets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with network members and independent brokers, acting as the primary point of contact.
• Work with brokers to understand their business plans, identify growth opportunities and demonstrate how the insurer can support their ambitions.
• Conduct regular broker reviews, analysing account performance, market intelligence and pipeline activity to drive profitable growth.
• Support achievement of new‑business and retention targets through effective relationship management and market engagement.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maximise trading opportunities and strengthen broker partnerships.
• Represent the business at broker meetings, networking events and industry functions.

Required profile

• Experience in the insurance market in roles such as underwriting, account handling, broker development or sales.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with a commercial mindset and the ability to spot growth opportunities.
• Motivated, proactive and comfortable building a market presence, seeking a market‑facing career progression.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance products is advantageous, with training provided.
