Junior Quality Control Analyst

About the role

Smart4Sciences is supporting a leading manufacturing organisation in Manchester. The Junior Quality Control Analyst will work in a laboratory environment, performing testing on raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet company and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality control testing of raw materials, finished goods and other samples.
• Prepare and analyse samples according to established laboratory procedures.
• Support the Quality Manager and QC Manager with routine and ad‑hoc testing activities.
• Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), health and safety regulations and maintain laboratory housekeeping standards.
• Ensure correct storage and disposal of retained production and laboratory samples.
• Validate laboratory instruments in line with company procedures.
• Manage laboratory consumables and solvent stock, conduct regular checks and arrange replenishment.
• Issue Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) and maintain accurate laboratory records.
• Provide timely testing support to Production, Customer Service, Technical Service, Purchasing, R&D and Commercial teams.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance laboratory performance.
• Utilise Microsoft Word, Excel and internal systems such as Epicor, BOS, COSHH and Torque databases.

Required profile

• Experience working within a laboratory environment.
• Previous experience in a Quality Control role.
• A‑Levels or equivalent qualifications in scientific subjects.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
• Ability to manage workloads effectively and work flexibly to meet business needs.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships across departments.
• Knowledge of laboratory health and safety practices and quality procedures.
