Lay Training Officer – Part‑time (2 roles)

About the role

The Diocese of Leeds is looking for a passionate Lay Training Officer to help develop and deliver training pathways for lay ministers and disciples across its churches. This part‑time position offers the chance to shape innovative learning experiences, including in‑person, hybrid and online formats.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver lay ministry training programmes in‑person, hybrid and online.
• Create engaging course materials and self‑paced learning resources.
• Recruit, manage, support and mentor volunteer tutors.
• Promote widening participation and whole‑life discipleship for diverse learners.
• Collaborate with diocesan teams to share best practices and contribute to the Barnabas programme.

Required profile

• Dynamic, creative individual with a passion for equipping lay ministers.
• Experience delivering training for adult learners and managing volunteers.
• Degree in theology or significant relevant theological experience.
• Strong IT confidence and willingness to work with Moodle‑based virtual learning.
