Lead Lawyer (Recoveries)

About the role

Keoghs LLP, a leading UK insurance law firm, is seeking a Lead Lawyer for its Property Risks & Coverage Team. The role will be based in a regional office (Bolton, Birmingham or Bristol) and will lead a team handling sub‑rogated property recovery files ranging from £10,000 to £100,000, while also managing a personal caseload of £100,000‑£500,000.

Key responsibilities

• Initial review and reporting on funding considerations for recovery files.
• Investigating evidential matters, gathering evidence and conducting investigations with third parties.
• Instructing counsel and experts, conducting legal research and drafting documents.
• Attending conferences, trials and ADR sessions, including mediation and joint settlement meetings.
• Managing settlement negotiations and preparing Part 36 offers.
• Leading the team in service delivery, performance management and professional development.
• Supporting the sales pipeline through account management, client MI, training events and performance reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with relevant technical capability.
• Minimum three years’ claimant property litigation experience.
• Proven ability to run a substantial case load.
• Working knowledge of delivering client KPIs.
• Leadership experience with line‑management and financial management responsibilities.
