Learning Support Assistant – Further Education

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a vibrant Further Education college in South East London. You will help learners access programmes, develop independent study skills and achieve their Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with teaching staff and support coordinators to ensure learners can access college services and activities.
• Guide learners toward the specific outcomes set out in their EHCPs, fostering self‑advocacy and independent learning.
• Provide personal care, supervision and dignity‑preserving assistance for students with physical, medical or mobility needs.
• Identify potential barriers, develop proactive interventions and contribute to person‑centred support plans and progress reviews.
• Act as a designated College First Aider, delivering first‑aid duties when required.
• Maintain clear communication with internal teams, external agencies, parents and key workers.

Required profile

• Good general education with at least Level 2 Maths and English (or willingness to achieve).
• Willingness to obtain or hold a valid First Aid certificate.
