Learning Support Assistant – SEND (Secondary)

About the role

We are recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a well‑established secondary SEND school in Charlton, Greenwich. You will work directly with students aged 11‑19 who have severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, as well as complex medical needs, helping them access a personalised curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to students, promoting independence and social development.
• Assist pupils in accessing and engaging with tailored learning activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the multidisciplinary team to deliver cohesive support.
• Support personal care and medical needs where required, with training provided.
• Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in a school setting.
• GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent Level 2 qualifications.
• Either a recognised qualification/training in Autism Spectrum Disorder support or a degree‑level qualification.
• Passionate, patient, compassionate and resilient with strong communication skills.
