Lecturer in English (GCSE and Functional Skills)

About the role

Bath College is seeking a qualified Lecturer in English to deliver GCSE English Language 2.0 and Functional Skills to learners aged 16‑18 and adult students. This fixed‑term position (22.5 hours per week) runs until 31 July 2027 and offers a competitive salary range.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching and learning in line with awarding body requirements.
• Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records of formative and summative assessments.
• Prepare sequencing documents, lesson plans, assessment plans and learning materials.
• Communicate assessment schedules and timetable arrangements to both staff and students.
• Support the department’s vision by contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Relevant degree.
• GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4.
• Qualified teaching certification.
• Professional knowledge of curriculum development, delivery and raising standards.
