Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a qualified solicitor to join Egis in the UK/Ireland as a Legal Counsel. The role will support the company’s construction, engineering and consultancy activities by providing commercial and contractual legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and advise on commercial, construction and engineering contracts, including NEC3, NEC4, JCT and FIDIC forms.
• Provide legal advice on consultancy and sub‑consultancy agreements, framework contracts, collateral warranties, teaming agreements and deeds of novation.
• Support senior leaders and operational teams with commercially focused guidance, balancing legal risk and business needs.
• Assist with corporate restructuring, company secretarial duties, board meetings and documentation.
• Manage debt recovery processes, statutory demands and pre‑action protocols for construction disputes.
• Coordinate litigation and dispute management with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
• Maintain the UK insurance certificate database and support ethics and compliance programmes.
• Liaise with external counsel within budgetary guidelines set by the General Counsel.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 3‑4 years post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in non‑contentious construction, engineering or project work, preferably in‑house.
• Strong background in drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction and commercial contracts.
• Interest in legal technology and experience using AI tools to improve service delivery.
