Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship – Asbestos

About the role

Join Environtec’s UKAS‑accredited asbestos laboratory as a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprentice. You will support daily laboratory operations, learn to analyse building material samples for asbestos, and develop a solid foundation for a career in laboratory science.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse samples to identify asbestos content in building materials.
• Log, handle and store laboratory samples and associated technical data.
• Assist in generating reports, certificates of analysis and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
• Use laboratory equipment and industry‑standard analytical techniques under supervision.
• Support quality‑control procedures and help meet customer turnaround times.
• Participate in health, safety and environmental compliance activities.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency.
• Comfortable working with clear procedures, predictable routines and precise documentation.
• Able to concentrate on detailed tasks for extended periods and work independently.
• Motivated to develop specialist knowledge in asbestos analysis.

Required skills

• Microscopy and sample preparation techniques.
• Asbestos bulk analysis using recognised analytical methods.

What we offer

• Basic salary of £24,454 per year.
• Up to 27 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
• 37‑hour work week, Monday to Friday.
